Fixing your master boot record

Due to any reason, if your XP installation does not boot or it attempts to boot and and then restarts with an error (MBR or Master Boot Record error or something like that). Here is a simple way to fix it ONLY IF YOU ARE ABLE TO LOG INTO SAFEMODE.

* Log into Safemode
Swith on the PC and keep pressing F8 until you get a screen with various Options

* Select SAFEMODE from the list and hit Enter to boot into Safemode. (might take a few minutes in some computers)

*There might be a dialog box - Select YES

*Now get the RUN command window (HOW to? - Press Windows Key + R or Click START => RUN)

*Now type msconfig and hit Enter or press OK

* Next you will see this screen

*Goto the Boot.INI tab

*Now click Check All Boot Paths
Now there are two outcomes:
If it says that all bootpaths are ok - Then it's obviously some other problem.
Else it will say something like "invalid boot path found, do you want to remove it? Answer YES"
*Restart PC and see if it worked.
